A dark bay/brown son of Harlan’s Holiday sold for $250,000 at the opening session of the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic May Sale of Two-Year-Olds in Training, highest price for a colt during the sale.
Catalogued as hip 206, the Kentucky-bred worked in :10.3 at the May 18 under tack show, and sold to EQB’s Patty Miller for an unnamed client on May 23. EQB’s Jeff Seder told the media afterwards, “For his age, he’s big and fast. His gait is clean. His exercise physiology, the different pieces that he has to have to make all that work from the inside, are in the top four or five percent of the breed. And when you can go through all those hoops, you know you’ve found a horse with a whole lot of talent. You can’t look inside his brain and we don’t know if he has courage or not. The main wildcards are attitude and injury, but we’ll see. We’re very, very happy to get him. He’s a wonderful horse.”
Consigned by McKathan Brothers, Agent, the colt was bred by Jayde, and originally sold for $180,000 at the 2009 Keeneland November Sale.
Harlan’s Holiday has already sired seven stakes winners this season, and reigns as America’s co-leading sire by stakes victories with 10.
