$230K Super Saver yearling at NY Preferred

Kentucky Derby (G1) champion Super Saver sired the top-priced yearling by a freshman sire at the Fasig-Tipton Preferred Sale held August 10-11 in Saratoga Springs, NY.

Hip 426, a filly out of multiple stakes winner Reata’s Quik Punch, by Two Punch, sold for $230,000 to Clark Brewster. Consigned by Select Sales, Agent, the bay miss was just the second foal from her young dam. Both the filly’s first and second dams are stakes winners.

Super Saver sired two other six-figure yearlings at the Sale, Hip 253, a colt who sold for $100,000 to Salem Bloodstock, and Hip 429, a filly who sold for $100,000 to SGV Thoroughbreds.

Super Saver was the leading freshman sire at the Fasig-Tipton July sale, with an average of $178,333. His eight first-crop yearlings to date have averaged $136,250. Noted horseman Randy Hartley said Super Saver’s yearlings “are the best I’ve seen by a freshman sire.” Super Saver stood the 2013 season at WinStar for $20,000 live foal.
