1st mares in foal for Drosselmeyer, ‘Sidney’s’

Drosselmeyer and Sidney’s Candy, a pair of Grade 1-winning millionaires new to the WinStar Farm stallion ranks for 2012, each had their first respective mares pronounced in foal.

Blue Orleans, a half-sister to multiple Grade 1 winner Pico Central (Brz), and Brilliant Disguise, a half-sister to Grade 1 winner Jersey Town, are the first two mares pronounced in foal from the first book of Drosselmeyer. Sidney’s Candy also had two mares pronounced in foal from his first book, including multiple stakes winner Lawanda and stakes winner Dance Hall Days, a half-sister to Grade 1 winner Cat Moves.

Drosselmeyer and Sidney’s Candy both retired to WinStar after a 2011 season that ended with Drosselmeyer’s impressive win in the $5 million Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1). The son of Distorted Humor was also a classic winner at three after triumphing in the Belmont Stakes (G1). He stands his first season for a fee of $17,500 stands and nurses.

Sidney’s Candy is a multiple track record-setting son of Candy Ride (Arg) who scored his biggest career win in the form of a blowout victory over champion Lookin At Lucky in the Santa Anita Derby (G1). A winner of six total graded stakes on turf, synthetics and dirt, Sidney’s Candy stands his first season for a fee of $15,000 stands and nurses.
