$170K for U S Ranger filly at F-T July

A filly from the first crop of WinStar stallion U S Ranger commanded a winning bid of $170,000 at the July 10 Fasig-Tipton yearling sale, one of the top 20 prices paid for one day sale of 338 horses offered.  A two-time European champion sprinter, U S Ranger also was stakes placed in the Grade 3 Inglewood H. at Hollywood Park.

Hip No. 211 is a bay filly consigned by Bluegrass Thoroughbred Services Inc., agent. The winning bid came from Mersad Metanovic Bloodstock. The yearling filly is a half-sister to two multiple winners out of the Fortunate Prospect mare Frugality. She is a half-sister to Bessarabian H. (G3) winner Elektraline and comes from the same family as Canadian Horse of the Year Fatal Bullet.
