15 SWs now for leading sire Speightstown

Dancing to Town displayed the quality and versatility that has become known of her sire Speightstown, as she showed good speed and stretched it out for a wire-to-wire win in the $150,000 Kentucky Ladies Turf S. on Sept. 7 at Kentucky Downs. The 5-year-old mare is the 15th stakes winner of 2013 for Speightstown, North America’s Leading General Sire.

Trained by Michael Matz, Dancing to Town ran a mile in 1:35.52 – just two-fifths of a second off of Rob ‘n Gin’s 15-year-old course record. She raised her earnings to $216,503 with her fourth lifetime win for owner and breeder Ramona Bass. Out of the Dynaformer mare Choreograph, Dancing to Town was bred in Kentucky.

The win boosts Speightstown’s progeny earnings to over $8.3 million to date in 2013. Last week, he became the first sire in all of North America to reach the $8-million mark to kick off September.
